The ESMO Clinical Practice Guidelines for the management of cancer cachexia in adult patients was published end April 2021. Within these guidelines, the authors highlight that cancer cachexia remains an under diagnosed and under treated condition, which requires more attention in clinical practice. The guidelines have been designed for medical oncologists who frequently care for cancer patients with cachexia in their practice. It is estimated that approximately half of all patients with advanced cancer experience cachexia. The goal of these guidelines is to provides key recommendations for managing cancer-related cachexia to oncologists.
