The health economic impact of cows milk allergy in childhood: A retrospective cohort study
This publication focuses on the economic impact of cow's milk allergy (CMA) and its management in the United Kingdom (UK). A retrospective matched cohort study was conducted on children with CMA, examining healthcare data from The Health Improvement Network.
The study found that children with CMA required more medications and healthcare contacts compared to those without CMA, resulting in additional potential healthcare costs of £1381.53 per person per year. The findings suggest that CMA and its associated comorbidities pose a significant healthcare burden with economic implications, highlighting the need for further research into management approaches that may impact clinical and economic outcomes.
