Missed ESPGHAN 2023? Prof. Susan Carlson delivered a lecture providing attendees with a historical overview of lipids in early-life nutrition.

The lecture specifically emphasized the quantitative disparities between lipids found in human milk versus those present in infant formula. Recent research has shifted focus towards the qualitative aspects of nutrients in human milk, particularly highlighting the importance of DHA and ARA.

Our understanding of the functional role of certain lipids in human milk is still evolving, as is the ongoing development and refinement of infant formula composition and physical properties.
