"In 2009 the Medical Nutrition Industry (MNI) launched the first ""ONS dossier"" which synthesized recent insights in the prevalence causes and consequences of disease-related malnutrition the benefits of intervention with ONS an overview of ONS guidelines and examples of best practices. This dossier has been updated several times since then. The most recent (4th) version was launched in 2018. Entitled ""Better care though better nutrition: value and effects of medical nutrition"", this report covers the full spectrum of medical nutrition (including enteral tube feeding and parenteral nutrition as well as ONS) and used a pragmatic approach to identify relevant additional publications. Data are provided, where possible, by healthcare setting (hospital, community), by age group (children, adult, elderly) and by patient group. The dossier includes a solid collation of guidelines and good practices related to the use of ONS, ETF and PN in the management of disease-related malnutrition. This compilation aims to encourage further documentation and sharing of information, experience, and practical tools in the fight against malnutrition and enhance patient care."
