22nd EuGMS Congress
The EuGMS Congress is a major international meeting dedicated to advancing the science, practice, and multidisciplinary collaboration that drive progress in geriatric medicine. Each year, it brings together clinicians, researchers, allied healthcare professionals, policymakers, and trainees who are collectively shaping the future of care for older adults across Europe and beyond.
In 2026, the 22nd EuGMS Congress will take place from 16 to 18 September in Lille, France.
Organiser
European Geriatric Medicine Society (EuGMS)
Designed to promote scientific exchange and interprofessional collaboration, the congress will centre on the theme “Optimizing Function: a Key to Healthy Ageing.” This focus highlights the essential role of functional capacity in maintaining independence, wellbeing, and quality of life as populations age. In a rapidly evolving healthcare landscape, the meeting will explore evidence‑based strategies to support physical, cognitive, mental, and social function in older adults.
The programme will feature an inclusive and diverse range of sessions, reflecting the multidisciplinary spirit of EuGMS. Participants will have the opportunity to engage with innovations in geriatric care, discuss real‑world challenges across different European healthcare systems, and learn from new research—including recent multicentre randomized trials that use Patient‑Reported Outcome Measures (PROMs) to assess meaningful patient‑centred benefits.
A key priority for 2026 will be the integration and engagement of young and early‑career professionals in geriatric medicine. The congress will provide a dynamic environment for learning, networking, and discovering the opportunities that make this field so impactful and forward‑looking.
Sustainability will continue to be a cornerstone of the meeting. Building on EuGMS’ “Going Green” initiatives, the event will prioritize digital technologies such as interactive congress apps, digital posters, and paperless communication, while applying environmentally responsible practices throughout the venue and programme.
